Marcus Stoinis is one of the rare few cricketers who can be called genuine all-rounders. Phenomenal with the bat, deadly with the ball and impeccable while fielding, Stoinis is certainly a gem of a player. Initially making a name for himself in the Victorian Premier League for Northcote, he plundered bowlers on his way to scoring four centuries in the 2013/14 season, where he also averaged an unbelievable 100 for the season. Stonis has played a number of roles, and his versatility is a huge asset for the national team. Although he prefers batting up the order, he can certainly bat wherever needed. His bowling too comes in handy as he can be used to take wickets in the slog overs or be miserly with runs during the death overs.

He was part of the illustrious 2008 U-19 World Cup Squad that included the likes of Steve Smith, James Faulkner, James Pattinson and Josh Hazelwood. Since then, Marcus Stoinis has gone on to establish himself as a regular in both the ODI and T20 teams. While some might label him as a late bloomer, his ability on the field can never be dismissed. This big, muscular brute can clear any boundary with ease, making him such a feared player around the world.

Marcus Stoinis has certainly had his ups and downs in the national side. While having to prove his worth due to his dip in form and niggling injuries, in spite of all the setbacks he has had, he has blossomed into a fine cricketer in the shorter formats of the game.
Although Marcus Stoinis has been marvellous on the international level as well as in other T20 leagues, his form hasn’t really transitioned into performances in the Indian Premier League. He has played for the likes of Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore and now for the Delhi Capitals. When the 29th of March rolls around, he will be gunning to prove his doubters wrong.
