Kagiso Rabada’s bowling is probably the ideal mix of swing and speed. Originally thought to be a talent who’d take time to become a top-level bowler, his performances proved that he was here to stay. It was his blistering performances during the U19 World Cup in 2014 that really turned people’s heads. He tore through the Australian batting line up, picking up a commendable 6/25. He ended the tournament as his side’s highest wicket-taker and also propelled it to the tournament’s final. Since then, Rabada hasn’t looked back and now is among the best bowlers in the world.

Back in 2015, Dale Steyn, arguably the best bowler of the time, was going through a rough patch due to recurring injuries. A young Rabada was called in and what an impression he made. He was thrown into the deep end of the pool as he made his T20 debut against Australia. Unphased by the daunting task, Kagiso Rabada stuck to his guns, and it paid off massively. He not only picked up the wicket of the dangerous Glen Maxwell but the performances that followed sent out a message that he was here to stay.

Kagiso Rabada’s ability to swing the ball conventionally makes batsmen uncomfortable. He seems to have a preference for bowling with scrambled seam and letting the wicket do the magic. Adding to this is the sheer pace to reverse swing the ball be it a new or old ball. As he matures and hones his craft some more, he has the potential to be the flag bearer of fast bowling for an entire generation.
Kagiso Rabada got his first taste of the Indian Premier League when the then Delhi Daredevils bought him in 2017 for a princely five crores. Though he missed the following season due to injury, Delhi Capitals used their Right to Match card, showing immense faith in the youngster. He will certainly be itching to come good for the outfit from Delhi in the upcoming season.
