T20 World Cup Bangladesh

The biggest cricketing event of the year is all set to begin. The seventh edition of the ICC men’s T20 World Cup starts on 16 October 2022. I'm still searching for answers, trying to find out what is missing, what we need to do. We sat together to work out where we are lacking and why we can't perform better. Except for the Sri Lanka and West Indies games, we performed poorly throughout the tournament."

They always gave tough competitions against the teams, such as Sri Lanka and West Indies, but they could not replicate those performances against the highest-ranking teams. But this time, they are automatically qualified in the super 12 round of the T20 World cup. They are in the second group with India and Pakistan. So, they have to play extraordinary cricket to beat the highest ranking teams to reach the semi-final. Previous Coaches and captains: Mahmudullah is currently their T20 captain. Some previous names in this list were Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Soumya Sarkar. Russel Domingo is their current coach.

Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar will open the innings for Bangladesh. The opening combination of Liton and Soumya can give a fiery start in every match by making complete use of batting powerplay. Liton gives a bit of explosiveness at the top of the order while the latter can anchor the inning. Somya Sarkar can also bowl a couple of overs. The number three will be the all-time greatest player of Bangladesh and currently the best all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib can score big runs and can change the match through his bowling also. He also has a huge experience of playing all famous T20 leagues across the world. The last time there was a world cup in Australia, Shakib played extraordinarily and took Bangladesh to the next round. Although that was a fifty-overs long world cup, the team management will expect a similar kind of performance from him with both bat and bowl.

At number four, another veteran, Mushfiqur Rahim, will bat. He will also be the primary wicket-keeper of this team. The number five will be the captain himself. He can play both kinds of innings. He can play long, anchor-kind inning and can also play the role of the finisher. Another important name in the Bangladesh middle order is the wicket-keeper batsman, Nurul Hasan Sohan, who made his impact in T20 cricket in recent history. If Bangladesh wants to do well in this tournament and wants to qualify for the knockouts then this middle order has to take the main responsibility. They will have to give their best to take their team to a new level.

Now comes their lower middle order. Mohammad Naim and Shamim Hossain are the two young players who can be good performers in the lower middle order. Shamim Hossain is a newcomer who made his debut against Zimbabwe last year. He is going to be a handy all-rounder for Bangladesh. Now comes their bowling attack. Bangladesh pace attack consists of some talented bowlers, such as Taskin Ahmed, Mohammed Saifuddin, Shoriful Islam, and Rubel Hossain. Taskin and Rubel have got pace, whereas Shoriful and Saifuddin bank on their variations. The Left-arm medium pace of Shoriful would be a good backup option for Mustafizur.

So, overall the bowling attack of Bangladesh has promise. Their only challenge is to deliver and continuously perform well collectively in the biggest stages. Mehedi Hasan is also a promising and talented all-rounder who can bowl decent off-spinners, and he can tonk the bowl hard in the dying overs. He needs to play a crucial role in the Bangladesh team. Nasum Ahmed is also in the mix for selection as his left-arm orthodox spin bowling may get handy in turning tracks.

If Bangladesh wants to do good in the tournament, their fast bowling attack will be their most powerful weapon. So, with this kind of combination with proper youth and experience. In favourable conditions in Australia, they can do wonders.
