The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the T20 World Cup. The ICC announced in July 2020 that in the wake of the global crisis, the ICC T20 World Cup was to be pushed back by a year.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2020 that was supposed to be organised by Australia was pushed to 2021, and ICC T20 World Cup 2021 that was to be hosted by India was pushed to 2022.
Both countries retained the right to host these tournaments, albeit in reverse order, i.e., India hosted the T20 World Cup in 2021, and Australia would host it in 2022.

When will the next T20 World Cup start?
The T20 World Cup 2022 is expected to commence from October 16 to November 13, 2022, in Australia.

How many teams are there in the 2022 T20 World Cup
In line with the tournament format, around 16 teams are expected to participate in the 2022 edition.
The winner of the 2021 edition, Australia, second-ranked New Zealand and other teams like India, England, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, have gained direct entry into the Super 12 stage.
The four teams, i.e., West Indies, Sri Lanka, Namibia, and Scotland, are expected to play in Round 1. The remaining four positions are expected to be decided from the two global qualifiers.
The top two teams from each qualifier will be selected. The two global qualifiers are expected to occur in February in Oman and around the June/Joly period in Zimbabwe.
T20 World Cup 2022 Host Nation
