An insight into International T20 League Fantasy Cricket 2023

The UAE T20 League Fantasy is a professional franchise cricket league that belongs to the United Arab Emirates. It is also one of the most awaited leagues thanks to its unique playing XI rules that will be covered in upcoming paragraphs. Among its six franchises are the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriors.
The first season of the International T20 League Fantasy was scheduled to begin in January 2022, according to the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). Due to some delays in the plans, the event has been rescheduled for 2023, starting on January 13 and ending on February 12.

History of International T20 League Fantasy

Following the success of domestic T20 leagues such as the BBL and IPL, ECB decided to start their cricket league to claim the second spot on the list of top cricket leagues. The tournament's first edition was originally scheduled to take place in 2022, but it was rescheduled to begin in January 2023, with six teams competing. The league was named the UAE T20 League Fantasy in June 2022, and the dates for the first season were also announced.

A total of six teams will participate in the inaugural season of the UAE T20 League Fantasy.

Following are the playing XI rules of the tournament:
  • Each team can have a maximum of nine overseas players, unlike IPL and BBL.
  • A minimum of two players from the UAE and one from an Associate Member nation must be in the playing XI.
