The excitement of the T20 format is all set to commence in the upcoming season of the TATA Indian Premier League 2025. The IPL 2025 will start on March 14, and the final game will be played on May 25, 2025. The complete IPL team schedule is yet to be announced.

There will be 10 participating IPL teams in the eighteenth edition, with IPL Group A teams playing one game and IPL Group B teams playing two against other groups. The evening matches will start at 7:30 PM IST, with the daytime matches beginning at 3:30 PM. The 18th edition of TATA IPL promises to be an entertaining one!

IPL 2025 Teams List

The ten TATA IPL teams participating in the 18th TATA IPL season are Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab King (PBKS), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and Gujarat Titans (GT).

Each IPL cricket team can have a minimum of 18 and 25 players, with a maximum of six overseas players. The following teams have announced their squads for the IPL 2025 season.

Chennai Super Kings

CSK was formed in 2008 and is owned by India Cements Limited. Compared to the other IPL clubs, it has the highest winning rate of 57.74%. The team won the league championship five times: 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. It has also made the most appearances in the IPL Final (ten times). Ruturaj Gaikwad will retain the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals, owned jointly by the GMR Group and the JSW Group, will be under the guidance of Hemang Badani as head coach for the 18th season of the TATA IPL. KL Rahul was bought by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore at the IPL Mega Auction. Their home games will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, with a capacity of 55,000 spectators. At the end of the last season, Delhi Capitals were placed 6th on the TATA IPL team points table. In 2024, the team had 14 matches, of which they won 7, but unfortunately were unable to qualify for the playoffs.

Gujarat Titans

CVC Capital Partners has taken ownership of Gujarat Titans, which will compete in the TATA IPL 2025. Shubhman Gill will probably captain the team like last year, and Ashish Nehra will take charge of coaching. The team's home ground is the Hardik Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad. Their priciest picks are Jos Buttler for 15.75 crores, Kagiso Rabada, and Mohammed Siraj, purchased for 10.75 and 12.25 crore Indian rupees, respectively.

Red Chilies Entertainment owns Kolkata Knight Riders, one of the most competitive IPL teams. Ajinkya Rahane is expected to lead the team in IPL 2025, and Chandrakant Pandit will be the head coach. The team won the IPL 2024 after defeating Sunriser Hyderabad. KKR, a three-time winner of the IPL, is the only other team with multiple IPL titles.

Lucknow Super Giants will join the TATA IPL tournament 2025 with KL Rahul as the previous captain and Andy Flower as the head coach. Rishabh Pant was acquired for 27 crore Indian Rupee and is expected to replace the former captain. The team had a successful run in the previous season, playing 14 matches with 7 victories and 7 losses, ultimately securing 7th place in the fantasy IPL team points table. They will be playing their home matches at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, which can accommodate up to 50,000 spectators.

Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, have been the most successful and prominent team in the IPL since 2008. They have won the IPL title a record five times. However, the last 2024 season wasn’t favourable for them, and they ended up in last place in the fantasy IPL team points table. They won only four out of their 14 matches. MI will be playing their home matches at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hardik is confirmed to lead MI in the IPL season of 2025.

Unfortunately, in 2024, PBKS could only win 5 out of 14 games in the league and was placed second-lowest in the IPL 2024 points table.

In the 2024 TATA IPL season, the Royals played 14 matches, winning 8, losing 5, and having No Results. Rajasthan Royals came third in the TATA IPL 2024.

RCB has had a fair amount of success in the IPL, having been runners-up three times (2009, 2011, 2016). However, despite their impressive record, they have yet to win the IPL title.
